Introducing the Sport Compass Foundation

johnThe foundation Sport Compass was introduced in 2009. Initiator John Bestebroer has attended several disabled sporting events all over the world, during his period as headcoach of the sitting volleyballteam of the Netherlands.

Partly though his efforts the Sport Compass was established to increase awareness of disabled sport. From July 2009, volunteers of the foundation have visited several countries, e.g Rwanda, Tanzania and England and made contacts to increase the awareness of the foundation.

Events in Hungary and Uganda are being organized currently. Our aim is to highlight the various sports in which disabled people can participate.

We think global, but act local.johnlegtuit

Sport Compass makes sport possible for all people with a physical limitation. We not only want to make sport events possible for people with a limitation, but also train them (and their trainers) in order to achieve more and inspire others and excite them to participate in sports.

We go for win-win situations.

Sport Compass supports both top- and recreational sport. We aim for long term relationships. This structural support contributes to the development and growth of international sport for people with physical disabilities. On the long term successes in various (international) championships and Paralympic Games are a bonus.

At first the development and growth of the sitting volleyball is the central objective for the next few years, but other sports will be included in the future, through cooperation with other parties.
